The College of Medicine at Wasit University organized an educational seminar on combating drug abuse, a destructive phenomenon that devastates the lives of young people and threatens their future.

As part of the Entrepreneurship Week and Drug Prevention Week activities, the seminar was held under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Assist. Prof. Dr. Nasir Al-Maliki, the Scientific Assistant, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ibrahim Insaf, and the Administrative Assistant, Assist. Prof. Dr. Salem Raheef Al-Aidi. The event was attended by the University’s Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Sabeeh Lafi, in collaboration with the Directorate of Drug Control and Psychotropic Substances in the Wasit Police Command, and the College’s Anti-Drug Committee, represented by Assist. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Thaher Lateef.

The seminar provided guidance and raised awareness about the dangers of drug abuse, its negative impact on individuals and society, and strategies for combating it. The event aimed to educate and inform young people through scientific and medical insights that advocate avoiding drug use.

Dr. Nasir Al-Maliki, the Dean of the College of Medicine, emphasized the importance of intensifying efforts by organizing more seminars and scientific workshops to highlight the risks of drug abuse and strategies for mitigating its effects on both youth and society.
