The College of Medicine, University of Wasit, holds a discussion session for the master’s thesis in the specialty of medical microbiology for the student Lubna Hussein Abra Obaid Al-Abadi about her thesis entitled Molecular Study and Detection of the Causative Bacteria of Urinary Tract Infection of Transfusion Dependent Thalassemia Patients Who Are Being Treated with Iron Chelators. The discussion committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Talib Saleh, a specialist in molecular medical microbiology, President of Anbar University, as Chairman, Prof. Dr. Safaa Abdul-Ilah Faraj, a specialist in blood diseases, Director of Medical Education, as a member, Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Eidan Damd, a specialist in molecular biology, as a member, Assistant Professor Dr. Salem Rahif Aryan, a specialist in microbiology, molecular genetics and protein functions, as a member and supervisor. The thesis showed the most common causes that cause urinary tract infections in thalassemia patients, as well as a molecular genetic study of pathogenic bacteria and reading all the virulence and resistance genes present using WGS on the chromosome, where the diagnosis was made from urine samples. And blood by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The thesis was accepted with distinction.
