The University of Wasit held a ceremony to celebrate its entry into global rankings (THE Times and QS Ranking), coinciding with the full international accreditation of the College of Medicine at the University of Wasit. The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Haider Abdul Zahid, Deputy Minister of Higher Education for Scientific Affairs; Prof. Dr. Abbas Lafta Al-Oqabi, President of Wasit University; Prof. Dr. Subaih Lafta, Vice President for Scientific Affairs; and Assist. Prof. Dr. Ali Mahdi Mutlak, Vice President for Administrative Affairs. Deans from various university colleges, Prof. Dr. Riyadh Al-Maliki, Chairman of the Central Promotions Committee at Wasit University, and Prof. Dr. Hussam Majid Al-Zuwaini, former President of Wasit University and former Dean of the College of Medicine, were also in attendance.
The current Dean of the College of Medicine, Assist. Prof. Dr. Nasir Kazem Al-Maliki, along with the college’s assistants, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ibrahim Insaf and Assist. Prof. Dr. Salem Raheef Al-Aidi, also participated. Dr. Saadoun Al-Ameer, Assistant Director of the Wasit Health Department, and Dr. Khalid Abdul Abbas, Head of the Wasit Physicians Syndicate, joined the ceremony alongside a large number of faculty members from the College of Medicine.
The Deputy Minister delivered a lecture on global rankings, highlighting the positions of Iraqi universities and Wasit University in international and national publishing statistics. He praised the university and the College of Medicine for their achievements in obtaining global rankings and international accreditation. Prof. Dr. Subaih Lafta elaborated on the achievements of Wasit University over the past four years, particularly its recent inclusion in various global rankings.
Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ibrahim Insaf presented on how the College of Medicine achieved full international accreditation, detailing the significant efforts of the College of Medicine’s accreditation team and the active involvement of its students.
At the end of the ceremony, the Deputy Minister, the University President, and the Vice Presidents presented certificates of appreciation to participants who contributed to achieving global rankings and international accreditation for the College of Medicine. Certificates were also awarded to officials from the Wasit Health Department and the Physicians Syndicate of Wasit Governorate in recognition of their significant efforts and effective support for the College of Medicine’s administration and students in attaining international recognition.
