Vision:-
The department seeks to achieve scientific and cognitive integration in the field of medical education in terms of quality and integrity and to compete with pediatric departments in local and international medical colleges and support the progress of our beloved country. And for the branch to be a leader in pediatric education and scientific research and to innovate the latest means in adopting a policy of change capable of reaching the health needs of the children segment in society, which old methods do not help in reaching through the following:-
1- All children have the right to receive distinguished health care.
2- Professional academic cooperation with colleagues, trainees, students and support staff.
3- Continuous lifelong education and developing the profession with scientific developments and scientific research.
4- Training and education based on creativity and improving outcomes.
5- Health care directed to the family centrally and integrated socially and culturally.
6- Adopting the defense of children’s rights.
7- Joint cooperation relations with child care organizations.
Mission:-
The Department of Pediatrics is part of the College of Medicine and works within the objectives of this scientific edifice. The department aims to:-
1- Meet the country’s need for highly qualified and scientifically qualified pediatricians to be leaders in the medical and educational field and provide the best medical services to the community and encourage them to conduct medical research by reviewing the latest research conducted in various universities around the world.
2- Professional progress in pediatrics through distinguished education and teaching, sound research, academic activity, clinical care and community service.
3- The department advocates for the needs of children and their families in terms of health; education; and children’s social problems.
4- The department devotes its efforts to providing the highest level of health and medical care to those who need and request it.
5- The department is committed to effectively covering all the needs of the children of the community we serve.
Objectives:-
1- Developing child health in Iraq.
2- Graduating highly skilled doctors capable of providing the best medical service to children in general and in the precise specialties of pediatrics.
3- Contributing to the development of the level of basic medical education through a solid curriculum.
4- Directing scientific research to what is required by child health problems in Iraq.
5- Contributing to training and teaching students of the fourth, fifth and sixth stages in the College of Medicine with the latest available educational methods and means.
6- Contributing to the clinical training of medical and health cadres in teaching hospitals.
7- Conducting research effectively and according to the importance of what our country needs.
8- Participating and organizing scientific events such as seminars, scientific conferences, discussion groups and workshops.
9- Participating in voluntary work days related to child health such as vaccination campaigns, awareness, health education and school health.
