Security, Safety and Laboratory Skills

Under the patronage of the President of Wasit University and under the supervision of the Honourable Dean of the College of Medicine. The Laboratory Unit organised a course entitled ‘Laboratory and study skills: the basics of laboratory safety’ lectured by Prof. Dr. Salem Raheef Al-Aidi and Prof. Dr. Baraa Abdul Salam. The course was about security and safety, laboratory skills, their importance, examples, how to develop them and how to maintain workers in medical scientific laboratories. Laboratory skills and biosafety express the ability to perform specific and different tasks in a laboratory environment, as there is a wide variety of laboratory skills depending on your field of knowledge on the art of dealing and globally approved regulations for security and safety such as COSHH, some of which may include developing hypotheses or maintaining records and the ability to protect people working inside laboratories, as well as how to deal with pathological microbes and prevent their spread, as well as maintaining laboratory chemicals and biologics
