The College of Medicine at Wasit University organized a training course in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit on radiography using a spiral caliper, as part of its efforts in sustainable development.
      Topics of the course
      – First day: Introduction to the types of spiral calipers and their different configurations.
      – Second day: Explaining how the device works, how to use it in the examination, as well as the cautions that should be avoided during the examination.
      – Day Three: A study of the spiral file used in dental examinations, its mechanism of construction, and the reasons for its use.

      Course objectives
      1. Introducing the types of spiral calipers used in radiological diagnostics.
      2. Explain how to perform the examination and the most important procedures.
      3. Explain the risks of radiation resulting from spiral CT scanning, with a comparison to other types of CT scans.
      4. Raise awareness about the importance of screening only when necessary to avoid undue exposure to radiation.
      5. Increase health education and public awareness about the uses of diagnostic radiology.
      Course recommendations
      – The need to sensitize the community to the dangers of radiation caused by the spiral hinge.
      – Emphasize that the examination should be performed only when absolutely necessary.
      – Do not use spiral CT except when there is an actual medical need.
