Under the patronage of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Wasit University, Assistant Professor Dr. Nasir Kazim Al-Maliki, the Faculty of Medicine/Student Activities Division (Volunteer Work Unit and Cultural Activities Unit), in collaboration with the Faculty’s Legal Division, organised an awareness campaign on cyber extortion and its dangers.
The campaign aimed to highlight the problems of cyber extortion in the current circumstances, especially with the significant expansion in the use of social media, which has allowed some weak-minded individuals to exploit these means to extort and threaten victims.
The campaign included providing legal and awareness guidance on ways to prevent cyber blackmail, explaining its psychological and social effects, and emphasising the importance of reporting such cases through official channels and not complying with blackmailers.
This campaign is part of a series of awareness-raising activities carried out by the Faculty of Medicine to promote its role in spreading community awareness and protecting students and society from cyber risks.
