✨ Celebrating sustainable development and its role in building a better future
The Faculty of Medicine at Wasit University, under the auspices of its Dean’s Office, organised a specialised academic seminar on sustainable development and its goals, addressing the vital role played by academic institutions—particularly medical faculties—in achieving these goals across Iraq.
The course covered a range of topics focusing on the concept of sustainable development, its global goals, and mechanisms for its implementation in the health sector, whilst highlighting the role of the Faculty of Medicine in supporting the health system and enhancing the quality of medical services in line with the requirements of sustainable development.
The session also highlighted the importance of scientific research and health education in addressing health and environmental challenges, emphasising that investment in medical education is a fundamental pillar for achieving comprehensive and sustainable development.
The session was presented by Associate Professor and Dean of the Faculty, Consultant Dr Nasir Kazim Al-Maliki, and Consultant Dr Nada Hamza Sharif, in the presence of the Assistant Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs at Wasit University, Professor Dr Sabih Laftah.
📌 The session was attended by a number of professors, lecturers and students, and awareness materials were distributed to support the concepts of sustainable development and their applications in the medical field.
