Today, the Faculty of Medicine at Wasit University began conducting the practical examination for sixth-year students at Al-Karama Teaching Hospital as part of the final examination programme for the current academic year. The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Assistant Professor Dr Nasir Kazim Al-Maliki, and was overseen by the examination and teaching committees supervising the conduct of the examination.
The examination featured the implementation of the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) , with multiple stations prepared in accordance with approved academic standards to assess students’ clinical and practical skills. Students moved between the various stations, which included clinical cases and a range of medical procedures designed to evaluate their level of scientific and practical competence, as well as their ability to manage medical conditions and make appropriate medical decisions in an environment that clinical reality.
Whilst monitoring the progress of the examination, the Dean of the Faculty, Assistant Professor Dr Nasir Kazim Al-Maliki, emphasised the Faculty’s commitment to providing the appropriate conditions for the success of the examination process and ensuring the application of the highest standards of quality and transparency in the assessment. He commended the efforts made by the examination committees and the teaching and administrative staff in organising and administering the examination, thereby contributing to the preparation of doctors who possess the necessary scientific and clinical skills to serve the health sector and society.
This examination forms part of a series of final examinations for sixth-year students, which aim to assess the students’ practical and clinical skills prior to their graduation, thereby enhancing their professional readiness and reaffirming the commitment of the Faculty of Medicine at Wasit University to the continuous development of the educational process and the achievement of academic excellence
