Under the auspices of the Deanship of the Faculty of Medicine at Wasit University, and in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty, Assistant Professor Dr. Nasir Kazim Al-Maliki, the Faculty organised an awareness lecture entitled ‘The Health Risks of Radiation and Methods of Prevention’ delivered by Dr. Wameed, a radiology specialist.
The lecture addressed the importance of the correct use of radiological examinations in the medical field, reviewing the history of the discovery of X-rays and the development of radiographic imaging methods over the years. The lecture also addressed the health risks resulting from the improper use of radiation and emphasised the importance of adhering to prevention and safety procedures when dealing with patients and using medical imaging devices.
In his speech, the Dean of the College of Medicine emphasised the importance of these educational lectures in raising the level of medical awareness among students and health professionals, thereby contributing to the promotion of a safe medical environment and improving the quality of health services provided.
