Wasit University holds a memorial ceremony on the first anniversary of the martyrdom of His Eminence Sayyid al-Janoub
Under the patronage of the President of Wasit University, Prof. Abbas Lfta Al-Aqabi, and under the supervision of the Assistant President for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Mohammed Shihab Ahmed, the University Presidency, in cooperation with the College of Medicine, held a memorial service on the first anniversary of the martyrdom of His Eminence Sayyid Al-Janoub. in the presence of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Assistant Professor Dr. Nasir Kazim Al-Maliki, and the Assistant Dean, Assistant Professor Dr. Salim Rahif Al-Aidi, as well as the deans of the faculties, a number of dignitaries and guests, and a large gathering of teaching staff, employees and students.
The ceremony began with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and the national anthem, Afterwards, the President of the University, Professor Abbas Lfta Al-Aqabi, delivered a speech in which he recalled the martyr’s virtues and sacrifices, emphasising the need to follow his national and social stance, and pointing out that his intellectual and spiritual legacy will remain a beacon for future generations and a source of inspiration for all those who seek to uphold the causes of truth and justice.
The ceremony also included a screening of a documentary film about the martyr’s life and heroism and the values and principles he embodied, in addition to various segments, including a moving elegy recited by the poet Ammar Hilal, followed by a lecture by Dr. Muhammad Abbas Zanjari, Director of the Centre for Strategic Studies, in which he discussed the martyr’s illustrious biography, his role in defending the causes of the homeland and humanity, and the lasting impact he left on the conscience and society.
