Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Assistant Professor Dr. Nasir Kazim Jawad Al-Maliki, the College of Medicine’s Student Activities Division organised a workshop entitled ‘The Importance of Volunteer Work in Self-Development and Community Building,’ presented by Assistant Professor Jassim Jabarah Jassim.
The workshop addressed the importance of volunteer work as a fundamental pillar of sustainable development and its role in promoting human values among students and developing their personal and social skills. It also discussed the definition of volunteer work, highlighted the obstacles it faces, and proposed innovative ideas for volunteer activities that can be implemented inside and outside the university.
The workshop concluded with a number of recommendations, most notably the need to support individual and group volunteer work on and off campus and to establish a permanent volunteer team at the university that promotes a spirit of initiative while increasing cooperation with civil society organisations to implement projects that serve students and the community.
