Assistant Professor Dr. Walid Al-Kanani, a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Wasit, participated in the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which was held at the Open Education Faculty/Wasit Study Centre, in a humanitarian atmosphere that embodied the spirit of solidarity and support for this cherished segment of society.
The event included the distribution of gifts to children with Down syndrome and other participants, in an initiative aimed at bringing smiles to their faces, reinforcing psychological and social care for this group, and promoting the principles of comprehensive care for them.
Dr. Walid Al-Kanani emphasised that the participation of academic institutions in such activities is an important part of their social responsibility, pointing to the need to support programmes for the integration and empowerment of people with special needs within society and among students
