Wasit University Faculty of Medicine organises training course on laboratory safety
As part of its ongoing efforts to promote a safe learning environment and implement occupational safety standards,
Wasit University/Faculty of Medicine held an awareness training course entitled: ‘Awareness and Training in the Field of General Safety and Emergency Plan for Human Anatomy Laboratories’ on 8-12-2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote a safe learning environment and apply occupational safety standards within educational laboratories.
The course was conducted by Dr. Khalid Abdul-Kazim, Head of the Human Anatomy Branch and Head of the Anatomy Laboratory, Dr. Tayf Karim Al-Qaisi, Rapporteur of the Human Anatomy Branch, and a number of teaching staff responsible for the laboratories, namely: Dr. Zainab Abdul Razzaq, Head of the Biology Laboratory; Dr. Mohammed Muneer, Head of the Virtual Laboratory; Ms. Rasha Nouri Abdul, Head of the Histology Laboratory; Ms. Raghad Jawad, Head of the Human Cadaver Laboratory; and Ms. Ghada Mohammed, Anatomy Laboratory Supervisor, with the participation of teaching and technical staff, workers, and students of the Faculty of Medicine, with the aim of raising awareness and enhancing practical training in the field of public safety within anatomy laboratories.
The course covered several key topics, most notably general safety principles in educational laboratories for the human anatomy branch, personal protective measures and the correct use of protective equipment, safe handling of laboratory materials and tools, as well as practical training on emergency plans for anatomy laboratories and proper response mechanisms in emergency situations, thereby contributing to the consolidation of practical concepts and enhancing the readiness of participants.
The college dean confirmed that these courses are part of its plan to establish a culture of safety and prevention, reduce potential risks, and increase the efficiency of its staff in dealing with circumstances.
