Professor Azhar Jabbar Al-Jalibawi, Consultant Dermatologist, and Dr. Nada Hamza Sharif, Consultant Surgical Pathologist, both lecturers at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Wasit, participated in the advanced specialised workshop entitled:
Advanced Skin Cancer Workshop
which was held in Sydney, Australia, from 4 to 12 February 2026, with the participation of a select group of international specialists in the field of skin cancer diagnosis and treatment.
This participation was sponsored by the President of Wasit University, Prof. Abbas Laftah Al-Aqabi, and supervised by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Assistant Prof. Nasir Al-Maliki, in support of the university’s efforts to promote scientific openness and communication with international academic institutions.
The workshop was organised at a number of universities and specialised research centres in Sydney, including:
University of New South Wales
Western Sydney University
Lowy Cancer Research Centre
The workshop programme included advanced scientific lectures, practical training sessions, and an overview of the latest internationally recognised techniques in the field of early detection, diagnosis and modern treatment of skin cancers.
This participation comes within the framework of Wasit University’s keenness to develop the scientific and practical capabilities of its teaching staff and transfer modern expertise, thereby contributing to raising the scientific and academic level, enhancing the quality of medical education and health services, and consolidating the university’s active scientific presence in international forums.
