Under the patronage of the Presidency of Wasit University, the Faculty of Medicine organises a charity bazaar to raise health awareness
Under the patronage of the President of Wasit University, the esteemed Professor Abbas Laftah Knehar Al-Aqabi, and under the supervision of the esteemed Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Assistant Professor Nasir Kazim Al-Maliki, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit, the Sustainable Development Unit, the Women’s Affairs Unit, the Student Affairs Unit and the Voluntary Work Unit, and with the participation of the Wasit Health and the Wasit Education Directorate, a charity bazaar was held in support of the Iranian and Lebanese people to mark World Health Day on 7 April, under the slogan ‘Together for Health: Support Science, One Health’. An awareness campaign was organised on the Sustainable Development Goals, nutrition and a healthy environment for pregnant women, in which teaching staff and students participated. Based on the community partnership and to open up opportunities in the labour market, external parties – including artists, food vendors, nurseries and bookshops – took part in the bazaar and expressed their cooperation with the college to foster a spirit of collaboration and strengthen community partnerships, thereby removing barriers and contributing to a healthy economy. They emphasised that diversity and cohesion promote creativity and innovation, thereby reducing social gaps to make communities more resilient and sustainable by harnessing the potential of all their members, which is a fundamental pillar for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals
At the conclusion of the event, the College Dean’s Office emphasised that these initiatives reflect the social and humanitarian role of academic institutions and contribute to consolidating the concepts of cooperation and solidarity in a way that serves society and promotes sustainable development
