In celebration, honour and pride of Iraqi Doctors’ Day, and under the slogan ‘Doctors’ Day is a Day of Humanitarian Giving,’ the Wasit Doctors’ Union, in collaboration with the Noon Cultural Forum, the College of Medicine/University of Wasit, and the Wasit Health Department, held the cultural forum ‘The First Doctor’s Forum’ in the forum’s gardens, attended by a wide range of doctors and a crowd of the city’s residents, dignitaries, and intellectuals.
The ceremony began with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and Surah Al-Fatihah in memory of the souls of Iraq’s righteous martyrs, followed by the Iraqi national anthem to mark the start of the celebration. Dr Khalid Abdul Abbas Al-Quraishi, President of the Medical Association, gave a speech in which he spoke about the great challenges faced by doctors in carrying out their humanitarian duties.
The ceremony was also attended by the Dean of the College of Medicine, Assistant Professor Dr. Nasir Kazim Jawad Al-Maliki, who gave a valuable speech in which he reviewed the great efforts made by the College of Medicine in preparing competent doctors capable of serving their country and society, emphasising the importance of these events that honour those who have devoted their lives to the noble humanitarian profession. The ceremony was attended by Scientific Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Ibrahim Insaf and Administrative Assistant Professor Dr. Salim Rahif Al-Aidi, along with a large gathering of academic and social figures.
The President of the Noon Cultural Forum, Dr. Mahdi Al-Quraishi, delivered a speech in which he welcomed the honourees and attendees, praising the humanitarian mission of doctors and the virtues of their profession, which is to save lives and heal souls. The President of the Medical Association then honoured a group of outstanding students who graduated from the College of Medicine in the academic years 2023/2024 and 2024/2025. The event concluded with the honouring of a select group of students.
