World Earth Day Festival at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Wasit, brings together organisations from the governorate
The Faculty of Medicine at Wasit University organised a festival and bazaar to mark World Earth Day, under the patronage of the President of Wasit University, Professor Abbas Laftah Al-Aqabi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the Faculty, Assistant Professor Nasir Kazim Al-Maliki, on Wednesday 22 April 2023, under the slogan ‘Our Strength is Our Planet’, and under the supervision of the Faculty’s Department of Obstetrics and Obstetrics Department at the Faculty, in collaboration with the Wasit Governorate Office, the Wasit Health Department, the Wasit Doctors’ Union, the Wasit Education Directorate, the Faculty of Agriculture, the Central Technical University, the Technical Institute, the Kut Textile and Sewing Workshop, and the Al-Safaat Foundation for Educational Development, alongside a large gathering of our students and students from the participating faculties. This took place within the framework of strengthening community partnerships and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The festival included health and awareness-raising events, as well as educational activities focusing on the importance of environmental conservation and promoting health awareness within the community, with active participation from institutions supporting environmental awareness, alongside initiatives to promote afforestation and waste disposal to create a sustainable environment befitting our planet Earth
This initiative underscores the commitment of Wasit University and the Faculty of Medicine to fostering a culture of sustainability and community service
