The Fourth International Conference

College of Medicine at Wasit University hosts the fourth international conference under the slogan ‘Combating intellectual terrorism and promoting societal peace in Iraq’ Wasit – Tuesday, 8 April 2025 Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Abboudi, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Abbas Liftah Kaniher Al-Aqabi, President of Wasit University, the College of Medicine at Wasit University hosted the fourth international conference for thought and culture under the slogan:

‘Science, moderation and tolerance are our approach to achieving intellectual awareness and promoting societal peace’.

The conference was organised in collaboration between Wasit University, the National Standing Committee for Awareness and Guidance in the Prime Minister’s Office, the Research and Development Department in the Ministry of Higher Education, Kut University, and Imam Al-Kadhim College (PBUH).

The conference was followed by a number of prominent academic and administrative figures, including:

-Dr. Haider Alwan Hussein – Prime Minister’s Office

– Dr Lubna Khamis Mahdi – Director General of the Research and Development Department

– Dr Musa Jaafar Radi – Director of the Development Department

– Dr Talib Zaidan Al-Musawi – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Kut University

– Dr Ahmed Hamid Ajar – Associate Dean of Imam Al-Kadhim College (AS)

The conference addressed a set of vital themes that promote moderate thought and spread the culture of peaceful coexistence among members of society, and witnessed the participation of a group of researchers and academics from various Iraqi universities.

The conference comes within the framework of the Ministry of Higher Education’s endeavour to consolidate the values of moderation and tolerance as a basic pillar for building a cohesive society that is immune to extremist ideas
