The College of Medicine at Wasit University hosted on Monday a training workshop as part of the emergency medicine course organised by the Wasit Medical Syndicate with the participation of a number of newly graduated doctors as part of a two-week training programme aimed at developing the professional and humanitarian skills of new doctors.

The workshop included two main themes: the first dealt with the principles of medical ethics and its importance in daily professional practice, while the second focused on effective communication skills with patients and ways to enhance the human and medical relationship between them and the doctor to ensure a positive response to treatment.

The lectures were delivered by Prof. Dr Ahmed Ibrahim Insaf, Scientific Associate at the Faculty of Medicine, Dr Muammar Imad Ajil from the Wasit Health Department and Dr Dalia Hazem Abdulaziz, Rapporteur of the Wasit Doctors Syndicate.

The course was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Assistant Professor Dr Naseer Kazim Al-Maliki, who shared his personal experiences in medical work, stressing the importance of human communication in enhancing patients’ confidence and interaction with the treatment plan.

The course is part of a series of training programmes organised by the Wasit Doctors’ Syndicate in cooperation with academic and health institutions in the province to support new doctors and enhance their readiness to deal with emergency cases and critical situations within health institutions.
