The College of Medicine at Wasit University has begun to adopt modern systems to assess the practical skills of students within the framework of its contemporary vision in medical education. The Mastery Exam was implemented as one of the advanced examination methods that contribute to the development of students’ competence and raise the level of their professional performance. Despite the challenges faced by the college due to the increase in the number of students and the need for a large number of residents, the college succeeded in implementing this exam with high efficiency, including all stages of study from the first to the fourth, where students underwent practical tests that included five to six skills for each stage, during which they showed outstanding performance and positive interaction reflecting the level of advanced training they received. The teaching staff participated extensively in this initiative, which enhanced the quality of assessment and ensured the comprehensiveness of the examination process. The exams were also witnessed by the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr Naseer Kazim Al-Maliki and Scientific Associate Professor Dr Ahmed Ibrahim Insaf in a step that reflects the support of the senior management to adopt modern educational systems in the college.
