Under the patronage of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Wasit University, the honourable Assistant Professor Dr Nasir Kazim Jawad al-Maliki, the Faculty of Medicine, in collaboration with the Wasit Health Department and the Autism Institute / Al-Husseinia Shrine, organised an educational seminar on the latest scientific developments in the rehabilitation and treatment of autism spectrum disorder
The seminar included a scientific lecture delivered by Consultant Psychiatrist Dr Mahdi Abdul Karim, in which he addressed the latest methods in the diagnosis, rehabilitation and treatment of autism spectrum disorder, emphasising the importance of integration between medical and rehabilitative aspects.
The seminar also featured a scientific panel discussion bringing together professors and doctors, during which views and experiences were exchanged and the most significant challenges associated with diagnosing cases and the mechanisms for managing them were discussed.
The seminar focused on reducing inequalities, promoting acceptance and inclusion, and strengthening inclusive education systems, thereby helping to empower people with autism to participate actively in society and ensuring equal rights and dignity.
Emphasis was also placed on the role of social diversity in fostering creativity, and the importance of equal opportunities in building a more aware and inclusive society.
These efforts form part of the drive to reduce social disparities and promote inclusion, in line with sustainable development goals aimed at building more inclusive and sustainable societies.
